New Concerts of the Monastic Choir in Great Britain

The Monastic Сhoir of St Elisabeth Convent (Minsk, Belarus) will be touring Great Britain between September 28th and October 4th with a series of charitable concerts.

The tour begins in Bristol. The Choir, consisting of the Сonvent sisters, will be performing there on September 28th. It will then continue presenting its concert programme in other cities: Cardiff, Bath, Poole, Winchester, Basingstoke and London.

The Convent has organised such events in Britain before. In 2017 the sisters performed in London within the scope of the “Heart 2 Heart” Festival.  In July, 2018, they visited the town of East Cowes on the Isle of Wight and took part in festivities, dedicated to the Romanov Family. Last autumn the Сhoir gave several concerts in London, Colchester, Peterborough and Oxford. In May-June, this year the sisters performed in London, Southampton, Poole, Shaftesbury, Newport and Port Talbot.

The concerts will consist of two parts: worship chants and spiritual songs. The sisters’ renewed repertoire this year will undoubtedly satisfy even most demanding audiences. Along with well-known favourites the choir will be presenting several new pieces, selected for the tour.

The concerts will be succeeded by small fairs, displaying items made in the Convent workshops. All proceeds from the concerts and the fairs will go to support far-reaching social work that the sisters of St Elisabeth Convent do in hospitals, boarding homes, clinics and orphanages. The Convent also operates two rehabilitation centres for the homeless, ex-prisoners and those suffering from alcohol and drug addictions. The sisters’ work is aimed at bringing these people back to the fullness of life.
