Parable of the Day: Sedated by Satan

A young female parishioner came to a church to ask a priest:

– Why do people often say that sins cause pain in one’s soul? I don’t feel pain, even though I sin a lot…

– Satan is deceitful, – the priest responded, – He sedates people with worldly pleasures so that they couldn’t see the damage they do to themselves. However, there will be a day when the sedative effect wears off, and the pain of one’s soul will be so strong that it would be impossible to tolerate it any longer. Even death won’t soothe it. The greatest worldly suffering will pale in comparison with hellfire.

We must shelter our souls from sin to protect our future from pain.
